Caring for your Rodeo Queen Jeans

Jeans, like any other cotton product, will fade over time, especially those dyed to match that very special jacket or vest. The color will stay truer longer if you take a few extra steps to care for them. First, wash your jeans alone in the gentle cycle using mild detergent and COLD WATER only. Secondly never place them in a dryer, hang them to dry (preferably inside out of the sunlight).

If you must take your jeans to a cleaner for starching discuss with them prior to leaving that you need "starch only". Clean and dry your pants at home, they can do the starching and pressing. Stress to your cleaner the importance of not washing or drying your jeans. Many people have taken a pair of dyed jeans into the cleaners only to pick up a pair that is far from the color that was left.

Black jeans are the worst about fading. After wearing them a few times give their color a boost with a black dye bath. Taking the time to do so will boost your image as well.

White jeans don't fade but they do yellow. The yellowing is caused by chlorine bleach, which can also weaken the fiber and cause holes in your jeans. To prevent yellowing use Biz or Oxy to get your jeans the whitest. Pre-treating white jeans will also help with stains, and you should use hot water on these. Keep in mind, if they are tight the hot water will shrink them so you may want to purchase white jeans a size larger than your other jeans (this may also be true when using a hot water dye bath when dying jeans).

Taking the time to care for your jeans, whether they are off the rack or a custom dye job, will ensure that you're appearance is at the top of the charts.
