Sample Score Sheets and SummaryThe key to good score sheets is ease of use for coordinators, judges and contestants. Score sheets should be easy to read, easy to follow and be specific in what traits judges are scoring. The number of sheets and categories judged is dependent upon the level of pageant you are coordinating. A local pageant may only need three score sheets, while a state pageant qualifying a contestant for Miss Rodeo America or Miss Rodeo USA may require more sheets and more categories. If your pageant is a qualifying pageant for a state or national pageant then it is a good idea to model your pageant and scoring system after the pageant your contestant will be competing in. This better prepares your contestant for the pageant they are moving on to. You can request a copy of rulebooks and scoring procedures from both national pageant associations. We have provided two sets of score sheets and summaries for your use. The first is appropriate for a smaller pageant that does not award category awards. The second is a set from the Miss Rodeo Iowa Pageant. This set is appropriate for pageants that recognize the top-scoring individual in a variety of categories as it breaks down the scores to those judged categories. Feel free to use these samples as a guide for your pageant and to modify them to fit your needs. Each file is a PDF file and you will need Adobe Acrobat to open the file. * The Miss Rodeo Iowa Pageant includes rodeo performance grand entries and the rodeo parade as a part of their judging criteria. The score sheets used are a single chart sheet which makes it easier for the judges to score - they do not have to juggle more than one paper in this situation (no table to write on) and each event is a 'quick' study to judge the overall impression the contestant will make while performing her duties as Miss Rodeo Iowa. Comments are transferred to another sheet by the coordinator to present to the contestant after the pageant is over.
