The
heart of
North Dakota
,
Bismarck
to be exact, is where Lindy Michelle Ellis, Miss Rodeo Mandan 2008 calls
home. Lindy is the daughter of Harlan Ellis and Tim and Karen Hagen also
of
Bismarck
. Lindy is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Business
Management and Marketing. Lindy was crowed the 2008 Miss Rodeo
Mandan
during the annual Mandan Rodeo Days Celebration.
On her way to capturing the title, Lindy also won the pageant’s
horsemanship category.
One of Lindy's passions is rodeo, whether she is helping carrying flags
for sponsors, clearing out the arena for tie down roping, or competing
in the breakaway roping or barrel racing, she is always there to lend a
helping hand. Lindy believes that traveling across
North Dakota
to rodeos, inspires a sense of pride in our state’s unique cowboy
legacy as well as educates our youth in the effort to preserve and
protect our historical values. As a liaison between rodeos, corporate
partners, the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, the contestants,
and the die hard fans, Lindy endures taking rodeo to the next level.
Lindy was a key player in building the foundation for the Bismarck High
School Rodeo Club, where she served as the president for two terms. When
Lindy is not competing or helping at rodeos across
North Dakota
, you may find her singing at many prestigious events throughout
our capital city.
"There is nothing more important in life than to know, in my
heart, that everything I have tried, I have done my very best at,"
those are the words that Miss Ellis has learned to live by in every
aspect of life. Representing the Mandan Rodeo, Lindy earned the 2008
Miss Rodeo North Dakota title this past October in
Minot
.
Miss
Rodeo Mandan symbolizes the young women of
North Dakota
wishing to further promote the sport of rodeo and the western way of
life. She is the ideal type American and represents rodeo and
North Dakota
with enthusiasm and pride. While spreading goodwill for
Mandan
and
North Dakota
, Miss Rodeo Mandan is acquiring lifetime experiences for her future.
Miss Rodeo Mandan serves as an ambassador for Rodeo and
Mandan
portraying excellence in sportsmanship, high moral and ethical
character, and reflects careful and humane treatment of animals.
Miss Rodeo Mandan is expected to act, speak, and dress according
to the prestige of the title as well as have an understanding of the
